Monthly Assignment Themes

GNBPC 2025 Assignment Themes
2026 Assignment Themes.jpg

How it works...

Every year in October, our Board of Directors meets to decide the monthly themes for the following year. These themes will be announced at the October monthly meeting. You can begin creating photos for any theme after that time.

Each month, we remind our club members of the photo assignment theme as well as the due date. Please submit your assignment image to the club’s email.

The images will be showcased, and members can vote for their favorite. The winning photo will be announced at the meeting, earn a coveted $25 gift card from Digital Pro Lab in San Antonio, and be featured on our homepage for the month.

During monthly meetings, we’ll view the images together. Photographers can share insights about their work and receive feedback.

Members may also submit up to two additional images: one in color and one in monochrome. These don’t need to match the monthly theme and can be from your archives. All images will be reviewed at the meeting, time permitting.

Submitted images will be sent to the Photographic Society of America (PSA) for critique, where you'll receive a score (3-9) and written feedback from a PSA judge. We’ll submit up to 30 images each month, including Assignment as well as Monochrome or Color categories. Please be aware that all images may receive public feedback, as we believe it’s valuable for everyone’s growth.

At the end of the year, all monthly winners will compete for the Image of the Year title.

The winner will receive a prize and their image displayed on our homepage for the following year.

Naming Your Photos

and Submitting

Please submit your Assignment photos via email to gnbpctx@gmail.com by the assigned due date. Each member may submit one image for the assignment theme, which must be taken after the current year's themes are announced. For 2025, any image taken after October 14th, 2024, is eligible. For 2026, any image taken after October 14th, 2025, is eligible.

Composite images are allowed for Assignment photos, but all elements must be created by you—no stock images are permitted. AI-generated content and enhancements are not allowed in the Assignment category. If using textures, they must also be your own creation. Filters and presets are acceptable.

You may also submit one additional color photo and one monochrome photo from your archives. These do not need to match the theme. Composite images are permitted in these categories and may include stock images and professional textures. Filters and presets are also allowed.

Please attach your images to the email. Images must be in JPG format with no watermarks, as voting is anonymous.

You'll receive an email with a link to the website gallery, where you'll be asked to vote on the Assignment images only. To ensure fairness, Assignment images will be displayed with a number and title, keeping the photographer's identity anonymous. Please note that voting for your own image will result in disqualification.

Votes will be compiled, and the winning photo will be announced at the meeting. The winning image will be featured on our homepage until the next monthly meeting. After the winner is announced, all photographers' names will be added to the Assignment images in both the website and Facebook galleries.
